Description

The aftermath of an asteroid hitting an ice planet. Be sure to view the full sized version at the bottom.

Another unfinished creation of mine, one that I have started recently and have been working on almost non-stop. Made entirely in PhotoShop 7.

Any suggestions would be appriciated, thanks.

Hi Trevor,

Another great post, you are well on your way in creating great work. In fact, it already is great work! Good job. One thing I find is that it is hard to get the amount of crits you want. If you comment other peoples work, many of them will come and comment yours. Just a tip =)

The position of your planets resemble my upcoming piece "Aeon Blooming" I really like the composition of this one, it adds more depth than the previous but I find lacks in intensity compared to Collision. Your starfield is wonderful and I really like your explosion effect on the main planet. Nice Work.

A few tips

1- Try to darken the back end of the planet more, it just might help bring out your "Burning Tundra" due to the contrast and add a bit more depth to your planet.

2- Darken the entire small planet by 25% to 50% (play with it), it should give the illusion of being farther away thus adding more depth as well. Remember to keep the end pointing towards the light source bright though.

3- Take some of that orange color from the explosion and lightly blend some in with your nebulea clouds. It will help add some harmony to your piece. It is important to keep in mind when there is a color, make sure to add it somewhere else in your work even if it's just a hint of it so that there is balance. If you look at my Lumitas Globe you will see that i added a bit of blue "clouds" to go in harmony with the planet. Make sure it still looks good though. Obviously :)

4- Try to develop a personal and unique style. There are alot of people doing this kind of art on the internet and alot of it looks similar. It becomes very cliche. Your style is good from what I've seen out there.

Sorry for the long post =) I hope you keep up the good work. For your second piece this is great. There's a community you might want to look into it's like gfx but space art only, maybe you've been there. www.solarvoyager.com It's a great place to post your work and get a good analasys for improvement.

Msg me when you post more ~ Joe Ayotte +8/8

Thanks for the tips Joe, I can't wait to see your new picture.

I actually planned on adding color to the clouds and atmosphere of the planet around the impacted area.

I worked on it for a day straight, but unfortunately I ran out of time and had to go spend more money.

Thanks for the website, but I don't want to limit myself to just space art. However it is quite fun to do. This may be my last space picture for a while.

Yes, I agree that you should darken the sky, so the stars would shine even more. Loved the "wound" caused by the asteroid, it's wonderful!
